Wrestling With Reality
…in 2010 the official diagnostic and statistical manual of American psychiatry announced that it was about to banish Narcissistic Personality Disorder from their manual entirely, as if they possessed a magic wand that could make it disappear.
This was met by such an outcry from practicing clinicians that they reversed their stance. Yet the very attempt reminds me of Trump believing that the classified documents he tried to hide at Mar-a-Lago could be made declassified — and thus free him from guilt — merely by his thinking they were declassified in his own mind. While the Supreme Court declaring that presidents have a built-in immunity is no less preposterous. C’mon folks, aren’t we smarter than this?

If you want to understand a society, take a good look at the drugs it uses…Except for pharmaceutical poison, there are essentially only two drugs that Western civilization tolerates: caffeine from Monday to Friday to energize you enough to make you a productive member of society, and alcohol from Friday to Monday to keep you too stupid to figure out the prison you are living in.
