And in the end, I believe that we don’t need to do anything to be loved.

Those who love us see us with their hearts and attribute qualities to us beyond those we really have.

And those who don’t want to love us will never be satisfied with all our efforts.

~ Frida Kahlo

In fact, in order to be completely aware, you have to disown the experience of awareness. It cannot be regarded as yours — it is just there and you do not try to hold it. Then, somehow, a general clarity takes place.

If you hold onto awareness, it becomes self-consciousness rather than awareness.

Awareness has to be unmanufactured; it has to be a natural state.

~ Chögyam Trungpa

…Because behind your anger towards them (your parents) is the fear that you will never be truly loved. It’s a real fear, because you never felt properly loved or seen during your entire childhood… It’s behind the anger you feel when anyone seems to be withdrawing love from you or testing your trust in them or their trust in you.

Once you understand this you’ll start to see that the same fear was behind your parents’ anger, whether they will admit it or not.
