If water remains still

it is swallowed by the earth;

but if it keeps on moving

the river becomes the sea.

~Hooshang Ebtehaaj, Iranian poet, fragment

From moles, we learned how to make tunnels.

From beavers, we learned how to make dams.

From the birds, we learn to make houses.

From the spiders, we learn to weave.

From the log rolling downhill, we learned the wheel.

From the trunk floating to the drift, we learned the ship.

From the wind, we learn to sail

Who taught us bad mornings?

From whom did we learn to torment our neighbor and to humiliate the world?

Edward Galeano, First Letters of Mouth of Time

The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore

Listen Sariputra,

this Body itself is Emptiness

and Emptiness itself is this Body.

This Body is not other than Emptiness

and Emptiness is not other than this Body.
