The Soul’s Outrage
*
In choosing security over growth, we outrage the soul, and the soul outraged, manifests in symptoms — depression, anxiety disorders, envy and jealousy of others, dependencies and many others.
~ from WHAT MATTERS MOST
Without journey, risk, conflict we are already spiritually dead and are simply waiting for the body to drop away as well.
~ Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life
Our souls long for transcendence, for meaning, for connection. This is who we most deeply are. When we can learn to face our fears, open to the universe without defense and follow what beckons, we will find our true spiritual path.

While we cannot understand an infinite universe, we can remember we are part of something infinitely larger than ourselves. When our own lives seem small and pointless, it can be helpful to remember that our lives are just a pinpricks in much vaster story. For us to live self centered lives would be like the internal organs deciding to become free agents. Sometimes our lives only make sense if we give them on behalf of a larger context.
