The biggest ego trip is getting rid of the ego, and of course the joke of it all is that your ego does not exist.
The word Ego and God are without meaning now. Use Sense of Separate Self as Ego, or SOS, which describes the ego’s nature, a sense of separation or uniqueness. This imperative to feel separate creates both the pleasure of being a unique individual and at the same time, the pain of not belonging, of being in exile.
The SOS is a double-bind where nothing you do to get rid of its pain is any good. The more unique and separate you must be, the further away from being part of anything you become. No matter which way you go, towards being special and unique or merging with a higher order…you are suffering.
This is the wound of consciousness that does not heal. The lance in the side of Christ.
