“Spirituality is not running away from life. It is a turning within to know one’s own Self. Spirituality is the science that teaches how to understand life in greater depth. It is the management of the mind. If one doesn’t know how to adequately control the mind and thoughts, one may lose balance in life. Escapism is the way of cowards, whereas spirituality is the path for the brave. Real bravery is a coming together of compassion and fortitude, which enables one to face anything. Those who say that spirituality is escapism are people with preconceived ideas. Talking to them is like holding a mirror before a blind person, or like trying to wake up someone who is pretending to be asleep. Knowledge is not something that can be forced into anyone. Knowledge can only be transmitted to or awakened in someone if he or she is receptive to it. Someone with a blocked nose will not be able to smell the fragrance of a flower. What is the point of blaming the flower for it?”
