A Hymn in Praise of Her

I no longer seek the initiation of men. Not of women either. Not guru or saint, teacher or master, healer or channeler, mystic or priest or priestess, medicine man or woman. I no longer believe that any other human has the right or ability to open a path or confer a blessing or title upon me.

Instead I seek the initiation of the wind, the snow, the blazing fire and deep earth’s peace. I seek the blessing of my non-human cousins, bear and birch, mussel and mushroom, sparrow and stingray. And the scorned ones, the mosquito, the tick, the cockroach. The mountains, the rocks, the rivers…
