A Shift In Consciousness

We are presently witnessing the weakening of a 5000-year old fear-based system (“Babylon”). It is an exploitive, warring, patriarchal, money-based reality (recently disguised as “democracy”) that has painfully dominated planet earth but is now collapsing as a love-based world is emerging.

This is an intuitive age, where we will be guided by our intuition based on our clarity and trust. To do anything from our fears, just slows down the birthing of this new paradigm. I’ll chose love. It is what we are all being called to do.

— Robert Roskind

“The task is not to see what has never been seen before, but to think what has never been thought before about what you see every day.” ~ Erwin Schrödinger (1887–1961)

“Talent is insignificant. I know a lot of talented ruins. Beyond talent lie all the usual words: discipline, love, luck, but most of all, endurance.”

— James Baldwin

Something sacred is coming this way. That is how my ancestors would have said it… They would not shrink into a corner afraid, but rise up to catch the first light of what was coming into being all around them. We are living in a time of emergence. We are the witnesses to a great renewal. The world is full of fear of birth and change, but that transformation will one day be our blessing. Do not be afraid, but be believing. Come to the place where the ancestors are already standing. Come and see. Something sacred is coming this way. — Steven Charleston

The coming age requires a new human, one with a spiritual vision that can see more deeply into reality. Intuition and metaphorical thinking need to supplant literal mindedness. We need to be able to notice and appreciate how everything is connected. The web of life we make our lives in needs to become obvious to us. Childish, literal-minded humans are on the list for extinction.

Transactional, materialistic patriarchy is on its last legs. We can no longer afford to refuse a spiritual approach to our lives. The childish stories we live by need updating.

At the moment we are caught in fear of the rebirth of consciousness we can feel coming. Our focus is on trying to hold onto what we are losing. We can’t think beyond the loss to what might come afterwards.

That’s why we need the voices of true visionaries. Most of the prominent people speaking to us lack vision. Their focus is on saving what we can of the old ways no matter who has to suffer and die. That way lies more catastrophe.

Our problem is a profound lack of heart, both in the sense of compassion and in the sense of courage. We are a small, timid race of bipeds. We won’t grow without shocks to the system. We prefer our safe — or maybe, not so safe — way of life where we can navigate on auto-pilot.

The collapse of our habitual ways is a giant mirror that can show us the fallacies in our thinking. The first order of business in this challenge is to connect cause and effect. How did we get here? How have we ourselves created our own suffering?

If we could just notice and feel remorse for the suffering we have caused throughout the natural world, that would be a small step in the right direction. Connecting the pain we export to others with our own personal suffering may strike a light in our individual darkness. Feeling something about our role in the unfolding fate of the larger theater of life is essential to this awakening.

The awakening the world needs is an awakening of the heart. This is nothing new. Avatars and gurus and saviors have been harping on this theme for ever. Maybe we’ll stop and listen when our physical survival is at stake.

I occasionally write fiction and also about creativity, loving, language learning and travel. I’m a longtime painter and reader.
