If we live only on the surface of ourselves, we are lost in conflicts and narrow self interest. A culture built on ego interests will self-destruct. Our American culture is relatively new, but built on the fault lines of slavery and genocide. Money is God. Religion is divested of ceremony, ritual and beauty. Our built environment reflects our poverty of soul. Kindness, clarity, love and strength are in short supply. An astonishing number of Americans are armed to the teeth and full of fear and random aggression.

Can such a society endure? We find ourselves at the moment right on the cusp of full blown fascism. A good forty percent of the populace seems to be descending into a suicidal delirium. All the guardrails are breaking. Democrats are hoping the indifferent masses will wake up long enough to vote. The lack…
