We must be able to let things happen in the psyche. For us, this is an art of which most people know nothing. Consciousness is forever interfering, helping, correcting, and negating, never leaving the psychic processes to grow in peace. It would be simple enough, if only simplicity were not the most difficult of all things. ~Carl Jung

“When you can become little enough, naked enough, and honest enough, then you will ironically find that you are more than enough. At this place of poverty and freedom, you have nothing to prove and nothing to protect. Here you can connect with everything and everyone. Everything belongs.” — Richard Rohr

I will not give up the flowers in my heart

for stones just because the world is a

hard place. The world is only hard

because it needs more flower hearted

people. — Nikita Gill

Society does not want individuals that are alert, keen, revolutionary, because such individuals will not fit into the established social pattern and they may break it up. That is why society seeks to hold your mind in its pattern and why your so-called education encourages you to imitate, to follow, to conform. — Krishnamurti

“It is the Truth, a Force of Nature that expresses itself through me — I am only a channel — I can imagine in many instances where I would become sinister to you. for instance, if Life had led you to take up an artificial attitude, then you wouldn’t be able to stand me, because I am a natural being.

By my very presence I crystallize; I am a ferment.

The unconscious of people who live in an artificial manner senses me as a danger. Everything about me irritates them, my way of speaking, my way of laughing.

They sense Nature.” ~Carl Jung

We humans are the only species that has a hard time being who we are born to be. We have a capacity for falsifying ourselves. We are so molded by the conditioning of our cultures that if our culture is divorced from nature, we will be too. Our Western societies have a fraught relationship with nature. We don’t feel our commonalities with nature. We want to use it, sell it, dominate it.

That attitude of disrespect and fear of nature leads to an impasse we can’t comprehend. It’s a mystery to us why climate is becoming dangerously unpredictable. Not loving and caring for the world in all its mystery seems normal to us. We do, after all, have to make a “living.”

The political situation in the US is an illustration of how large numbers of blinkered and narrowly self interested people can endanger the whole planet. The survival and continuance of the human race rest entirely on the human heart. Hard heartedness will kill us all. It’s suicide.

The contingency of angry and closed hearted people is shockingly numerous in our world. It’s the norm. Everything in our society pushes us in that direction, from education to economics to governance. Somehow we fail to notice how dysfunctional it makes everything, from our personal lives to our broader cultures to nature itself.

The natural world is screaming at us to stop the torture but we’re deaf. We are starting to notice that nature is getting wonky, but we have yet to agree we are the cause much less what the solutions are.

Stop poisoning the earth? Stop using fossil fuels? You must be joking.

We have to back up to a more basic point. If we’re going to develop a society of intelligent humans, we have to educate them with truth instead of comforting lies.

We will have to grow better humans. Too many of us reach physical adulthood with childish and heartless minds. That bodes ill for the future of life on earth.

The next election in the States will be a picture of how many of us are willing to speak up for a better world. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
