New Woman, New Earth
“We cried for ourselves. We cried for our sisters. We cried for our brothers, our mothers, our fathers. We cried for our leaders. We cried for our daughters and sons. We cried for our country, the earth, the devastation, the insanity.
….
Afterwards we took some deep breaths, drank some water, and then we danced and laughed.
Then we sat down and said a prayer.
Then we went back to work. To action. To our collective mission.
….
We’re doing this a different way.”

“As the classicist Eva Keuls emphasizes, “the suppression of women, the military expansionism and the harshness in the conduct of civic affairs all sprang from a common aggressive impulse.” That impulse was the expression of “male supremacy and the cult of power and violence.”

In 2015 we went to Europe to do a ceremony to address what took place during the so-called “witch hunts.” In that process I came to understand that not only was the Sacred Feminine violated, but the Sacred Masculine was also deeply violated. And indeed, the Holy People cited that time of human history as an “archetypal wounding of humanity.“
Since that time, my compassion for Men’s Nation has grown and deepened in ways I would never have thought possible.

If you are a man, I just want to let you know that I see you, I see your heart, and you are loved. You are a brilliant miracle that is deeply needed in this world and no one could replace you. Your work is appreciated, your provisions are invaluable, and we need you as much as we need the sun and the air.
Love,

A revisioning of humanity is in process now. We are just beginning to see ourselves differently, both men and women. Our ideas of masculinity and femininity are shifting. We’re noticing how both men and women have been wounded by our culture. It’s starting to become obvious how we have all been twisted and disempowered by the patriarchy.
Empathy and beauty are connected in ways that are not obvious at first. A mind that only sees power dynamics is different from a mind that cares about the flourishing of living beings. Feeling involved in the fate of a beautiful world that is being attacked and desecrated works fundamentally differently from a mentality of utility and exploitation.
Healing the wounds of exploitation looks daunting from the position of what we’re used to in the world, but I think I see the seeds of a new way putting up fresh green shoots. But first there will be a general collapse because all our systems are built on contempt for the sacred web of life. A general awareness that it’s unsustainable is growing.
As women regain awareness of unhealed wounds and begin to find their instinctive centers, I expect them to notice how men too are suffering from patriarchy. Nobody escapes it, but the age of the merciless warrior hero is on its last legs.
As we enter this age of confusion, I hope to see satellites of a new vision of what we all are, how every living being carries a version of the universal consciousness as it contributes to the larger sacred paradigm. The work ahead of us is to bring beauty and meaning back into our lives and into the world. For this to happen, a renovation and restoration of the human spirit and vision is imperative.
We really don’t have a choice now. It’s that or extinction. The news is full of outrages, because the revisioning process won’t sell copy, at least not yet. We’re in the early stages still, but it has started. I think it’s important to recognize what’s happening and find a way to contribute to remaking the world so that it’s built anew on love, beauty and justice.
