My first 15 years in France were touch and go, back and forth, love hate, but then I moved to a small village and stayed 22 years. It really felt like home. Going back to the States felt strangely impossible. That was unexpected. Had it changed or had I? Feeling like an ex-pat in your native land is disorienting. Now we’re in Mexico, on the same time zone as our grandkids in Texas, and learning a new culture. We’re permanent ex-pats now, I guess.
