Love, Time And The Inner Vision
Love buys time; love improves time; love is what gives time its value and its sadly sweet fleetness. Love is the real blood that runs within us and binds us together….
— Tennessee Williams
We are here to provide for those who are weaker, more battered and crippled than ourselves.
— Michael Foot

So many years ago when my oncologist called me and said I had two to five years to live, I immediately knew I had to stop what I was doing for a living….
It’s that moment when suddenly we are bitch slapped by time….
On the way to school recently, my grandson Conor was waving a stick and calling it his magic wand, willing the sun to come out while the mud soaked my car.
He said — Grandma, magic isn’t real.
Yes, it is real, I said.
How do you know?
Because you are in my car.
I watched him in my rearview mirror, thinking about that.
That’s the secret of our incredibly short lives — give more of ourselves to the people we love and to the places where we live, and to what feeds our soul. Let’s get so lost in something or someone or someplace we love, we only know time by the sun.
