What is it?
Do we know it when we see it? I am moved by this photo because stone is eternal but we earthlings all live in a temporal world. Some people imagine passing from lifetime to lifetime with the same soul mates. I would like to think that’s true because I want to keep the soul mate I have, but death is a mysterious cloud that no one has yet penetrated.
I don’t like to believe things just because they comfort me.
And while we’re on the subject of love, I’d like to talk about the variety we see everywhere, from romantic to parental, inter and intra species, from tribal to the universal. It’s infinite in its variety.
Here are a few images that I find touching:
These images suggest to me that love is a basic life principle. In fact, it’s the only thing that glues the world together, from what I can tell. We all know the world keeps trying to come apart at the seams and blow itself to smithereens. Our saving grace is the fact that we love. We just need to call on it everywhere, in justice, in governance, in business, in science and education.
We need a large love in the world now, a deep sense of the creation we are part of. That looks like a soft heart allied to a large vision, to me. I think we are capable of such a vision, but will we develop it?
I think it’s the time now to love or forever hold your peace. The world is crying out for the one thing that will save it — love. Humans keep futzing around with power and childish fantasies of gaining advantage.
How far will we continue on this highway to hell before we realise we’re going the wrong way?
I’m ready to start hitchhiking in the opposite direction.
