“Vision that responds to the cries of the world and is truly engaged with what it sees is not the same as the disembodied eye that observes and reports, that objectifies and enframes. The ability to enter into another’s emotions or to share another’s plight, to make their conditions our own, characterizes art in the partnership mode.”

— Suzi Gablik, The Reenchantment of Art

This country that my soul chose but my mind screams at…

This country that literally fights itself not to provide health care for those that it considers less than, leaving millions of people at profound risk, unable to pay for medication or bankrupt because they got sick — that charges the most for medical care, putting money above everything, and yet has among the worst health crisis in the world…

This country that has the worst mental health issues on the planet — more wealth that you can get your head around and more homeless people living in the schismic gaps of deprivation and despair…

This country that never abolished slavery, but turned it into the industrial prison complex so that people of colour could be used and abused endlessly to provide low cost labour for companies more committed to profit than to any social justice or dignity for ‘actual people’.
