I don’t know if I’m qualified to comment on this because I’ve spent over 40 years out of the States, but only because I’m interested in foreign cultures, foods, histories, art and languages.

I was not persecuted in my native Texas, I was just bored. I felt too limited. There are a million reasons to leave your country. Maybe you just want to learn and grow into a larger person. That’s your natural right.

People who have never left the U.S. might not know you don’t renounce your citizenship when you do. There are still rights and obligations that apply. Very few Americans give up those things.
