I never have been in despair about the world. Enraged. I’ve been enraged by the world, but never despair. I cannot afford despair…you can’t tell the children there’s no hope.

~ James Baldwin

Anxiety is the name for the distance between ego and the deep self.

I never say no to grief…but what we need now is wild unfettered joy. THIS is the only thing that really stands up to fascism…Dionysian revelry and joy. We need to throw a better party. We need to dance in the streets. We need to laugh. We need to have fun.

We need to have FUN.

We need revelry.

The great social critic Barbara Eherenreich wrote a WHOLE BOOK about this…called, yes, Dancing in the Streets. Those that would impose their will upon others will always forbid dancing, demonize sex, forbid personal expression. They want the fist raised in the air and the combined shouts of their allegiance to their leader because they no longer dare to feel what it is they really want.

Let’s cook food. Good food. Let’s dance.

~ Perdita Finn
