“This is how quantum physics shows that we cannot decompose the world into independently existing elementary units. As we shift our attention from macroscopic objects to atoms and subatomic particles, nature does not show us any isolated building-blocks, but rather appears as a complex web of relationships between the various parts of a unified whole.”
Fritjof Capra, The Web of Life
Whatever we refuse to face within us will become a collective fate in the world around us. The wise come to know their own inner conflicts, while the unwise keep insisting that all the trouble is the fault of others.”
- Michael Meade, “Fate and Destiny”
“All life is vibrantly alive Consciousness. Consciousness is Life. Everything everywhere is your own body, your own heart, your own soul, your own Self. Knowing, feeling and experiencing your SELF as all objects and phenomena is so completely intimate that even the world “love” is not an adequate description…
“People around the world are awakening to being Awareness itself. As there is only one field of Consciousness, when one person awakens to being, that universal field of unbounded Awareness, it directly influences and uplifts the consciousness of everyone.
Nothing affects society more positively than Awakening to being Consciousness itself. It creates a thrill throughout the omnipresent field of Consciousness, heightening the entire world consciousness. And, as it is the fundamental source of everything, it enlivens the innermost core of the pure sense of Being in everyone. The whole field of universal life is uplifted all at once, in one stroke.”
— Lucia and Lawrence [lorn] Hoff, The Incredible Reality of YOU: A Spiritual Guide to the Awakening of Consciousness
Our level of consciousness determines the world we live in. The more we’re able to perceive how everything is linked to everything else, the more we see the miracle we inhabit and contribute to. The more able we are to perceive the miracle, the more meaning and beauty we see in everything. That level of consciousness can create a kind and supportive world for every living thing.
We’re obviously not there, are we?
What does our culture need to be able to grow to that kind of awareness? That question is before us as we try to navigate our cultural rapids of blindness and hate. Mass death at world war levels are available to teach us now, but even that hasn’t yet pulled the scales from our eyes. We’re nothing if not stubborn, we humans.
Our way of thinking and living carries its own inescapable karma. It’s looking like a downward spiral at the moment. Logic suggests a bad ending unless some force majeur intervenes.
I think we need to proceed by questions and an open mind rather than a better belief system. I think kindness and generosity are more important than mental constructs, regardless how intelligent they are. Letting the meaning of things into a quiet mind is more intelligent than inventing a philosophy.
Our culture is extroverted, positivistic. A meditative mindspace is not encouraged, generally. Religious missionaries heading into the wilds to civilize the heathens shows the distance our culture has to travel before we can divest ourselves of our hubristic ignorance.
Our current situation is a litmus test of that hubris. How we are going to come through unscathed is an old question. We are already “scathed”, but probably not enough to teach us to see the obvious source of our troubles, which is simply ourselves. How we could transform a loving avatar like Jesus into a hatemonger is a miracle only we could perform.
The lesson looks to be a hard one, custom made for a hard headed society. On the other side, maybe we will have realized a few basic facts, that we are all connected and love is better than hate as a principle to live by.
I’ll meet you there.
