Emmy Lou Packard, American, 1914–1998

What if everyone experienced themselves in the world as the mother of every soul they met? What if we remembered that we have all been each other’s mothers in one lifetime or another? What if we remembered that we have been the mother of everyone we meet?

Imagine a world in which there was not just a single beleaguered woman who was your mother … but that everyone knew they had been your mother and that they were your mother still.

What would the world be like?

— Ceremonial Chief, Frank Fools Crow, Lakota 1890–1989
